Power Wood Canada Corp is a planet-first, clean-energy corporation that turns the consequences of climate change into part of its solution.
We transform wildfire deadwood, diseased boreal trees and residual wood waste into high-performance black biofuel pellets – an energy-dense, ultra low carbon footprint drop in substitute for coal.
Our carbon-neutral manufacturing process produces the world's most durable, waterproof, energy-dense biofuel pellet to be used instead of coal in utility power generating stations.
In doing so, we work quickly towards a world with cleaner air, cooler climates and a coal-free future.
Our company helps power stations, steel mills and industrial plants to decarbonize without any major change to infrastructure.
We use leading-edge, science-based, steam explosion to change biomass at cellular level and transform nature’s waste stream wildfire wood into a new generation of lignin-rich, energy-dense, logistics-friendly advanced black pellets.
Our innovative green energy company produces pellets that deliver 87 percent of coal’s energy but just six percent of its carbon footprint - across sourcing, production, transportation and combustion.
Power Wood Canada Corp keeps power generation infrastructure in operation, and mitigates the carbon footprint of installing new renewable energy infrastructure.

Read about our values, vision and mission below.
Engraining Ethics in Every Endeavour
🌳 Putting planet before profit
🌳 Championing green innovation
🌳 Supporting economic prosperity
🌳 Minimising environmental impact
🌳 Providing ecological stewardship
Power Wood Canada Corp operates on a strict planet-before-profit principle, believing full economic prosperity cannot occur, locally or globally, without good ecological stewardship.
We apply full-circle green thinking to all of our activities, focusing always on helping to heal the planet throughout our operational chain.
We operate near to raw material feedstock, harvested to protect forest carbon sinks and earth’s atmosphere.
We use a carbon-neutral process to produce compact, energy-dense, low-emission biofuel that is environmentally and economically viable to transport.
Across all activities, without compromise, we champion green innovation to bridge the gap between industrial energy needs and global net zero goals.
Business Balanced with the Biosphere
🌳 The end of coal and fossil fuel use
🌳 Total renewable energy infrastructure
🌳 Economic and ecological synchronicity
🌳 A decarbonized, net zero future
🌳 A healthy, thriving, prosperous planet
Power Wood Canada Corp shares a vision of a net zero future in which burning climate-deadly coal and other fossil fuels is regarded as primitive and obsolete.
We imagine a world where heavy engineering, process production and big technology are powered by diverse, concerted clean, renewable energy sources.
We envision a planet with abundant forests and ecosystems safeguarded, revitalized and trusted to support humanity's health on the planet.
We plot a pathway to that picture on which economic endeavour and decarbonization advance together – so industry and nature work in circular ways that bring balance to a planet inherited by those coming later.
Closing Coal, and the Climate Crisis
🌳 Produce better low-emission pellets
🌳 Create decarbonization pathways
🌳 Help allies meet climate pledges
🌳 Reduce greenhouse gas emissions
🌳 Protect vital forest carbon sinks
Power Wood Canada Corp’s mission is to manufacture superior, energy-dense, durable, waterproof biofuel pellets as a direct drop in substitute for coal.
We will do this to provide immediate, cost-effective pathways to decarbonisation for power stations, steel mills and industrial factories – and in the process enable nations to meet climate commitments.
We will create more than a million tonnes of black pellets annually to replace coal, using only fire-damaged wood and diseased trees – to decrease decomposition methane and carbon dioxide greenhouse gasses.
We will actively protect our planet from the spread of future wildfires by replenishing forests so they grow into larger carbon sinks.
It is why we launched the New Ground Foundation in 2018 to reforest and manage areas that we clear of wildfire deadwood and diseased trees, within an area laid out by our Crown forestry rights.
The New Ground Foundation is responsible for repopulating areas of previously fire-ravaged woodland with a mix of native coniferous and deciduous trees. Coniferous species planted by the New Ground Foundation include black and white spruce, balsam fir, jack pine and larch, while deciduous species include white birch, trembling aspen, and balsam poplar.
Power Wood’s parent company CoAlternative Energy Ltd provided the seven-figure seed capital for the New Ground Foundation and maintains financial support to ensure the project’s success.
It is why we are a scholarship provider to those who show deserving aptitude and promise but come from culturally or economically disadvantaged backgrounds that deny them a fair chance in life.
Our scholarship scheme invests in further education, training and apprenticeships so young people from pastoral and Indigenous families and communities can go on to fulfil their potential in areas of industry associated with forestry, conservation, green energy, logistics and firefighting. And we endeavour to find them jobs once they have finished their studies.
Power Wood’s parent company CoAlternative Energy Ltd provides the funds they need to learn and progress through educational channels that would otherwise be inaccessible to them.
